Děj se odehrává ve Francii čtrnáctého století a točí se kolem rytíře vracejícího se z bitvy ve Skotsku. Když se vrátí zpět domů, tak zjistí, že mu manželku znásilnil jeho panoš a dobrý přítel. Ten zatlouká a zatlouká, avšak spor nakonec skončí u krále a ten se rozhodne pro řešení skrze duel na život a na smrt. Bůh tedy rozhodne, kdo má pravdu, leč vyhraje-li panoš, má zemřít i rytířova manželka. Jedná se o poslední spor ve Francii, jenž byl řešen tímto způsobem a se souhlasem příslušných autorit.
Film vychází z knižní předlohy Erica Jagera, scénář napsali Ben Affleck, Matt Damon a Nicole Holofcener. Režíruje Ridley Scott. V hlavních rolích Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Adam Driver a Jodie Comer. Datum premiéry v českých kinech je stanovené na 7. 1. 2021.
