Zatímco před premiérou Neočekávané cesty nás Jacksonův tým zásoboval pravidelnými videoblogy z natáčení (nakonec jich bylo rovných deset) a početná výprava nechyběla ani na Comic-Conu, letos je štáb na slovo skoupý. Petera zřejmě plně zaměstnává rozšíření dvoudílné série na trilogii, navíc kromě Šmakovy dračí pouště musí stihnout do Vánoc připravit také prodlouženou verzi Neočekávané cesty, se všemi neodmyslitelnými bonusy, na které jsme u filmů ze Středozemě zvyklí. Ze Šmakovy dračí pouště jsme tak kromě pár obrázků zatím vidli pouze trailer a jeden videoblog. Teď se konečně blýská na lepší časy a zčistajasna se dozvídáme, že druhý trailer uvidíme už zítra, ve tři hodiny středoevropského času! Samotný Hobit: Šmakova dračí poušť pak do našich kin vstoupí 12.12..
Rozšířená verze Neočekávané cesty se do našich obchodů dostane už 5.11. a dočkáme se již standardně několika různých variant. Neměla by chybět DVD verze (5 disků), 2D Blu-ray verze (3 disky) a konečně 3D Blu-ray verze (5 disků). Hlavním hřebem napěchovaného balení bude prodloužený sestřih filmu, natažená o plných 13 minut, které budou především prohlubovat již známé scény. Na filmových discích nebude chybět ani audiokomentáře Petera Jacksona a spoluscenáristky Phillippy Boyens. Bonusové disky pak budou obsahovat devět hodin dokumentárního materiálu, jehož výčet je následující:
